“Outrageous: exceeding the limits of what is usual.”
When was the last time you did something outrageous? Have you ever leapt so far out of your comfort zone that you felt so excited/terrified/thrilled that you wanted to laugh and cry and completely leave your body? And are all those feelings coming back to you right now? It’s horrible/wonderful, isn’t it? Terrifyingly awesome, eh? Those feelings are an indication that you are on the edge of awesomeness. So, what’s stopping you from diving headfirst into your awesomeness?
At the beginning of October, I issued a challenge to anyone who would accept it (including myself). The goal was to do one outrageous thing every day for the month of October. Each individual was to define outrageousness for him or herself using the following guidelines:
1. If it scares the crap out of you, it’s outrageous and
2. No judging other people’s outrageousness.
The experience has been incredible. As a group, we’ve soared out of our comfort zones, launching businesses, running marathons, adopting puppies, quitting jobs and, perhaps most empowering, asking for what we want. It’s been a game-changer and we’re ready for more.
Now, I’m issuing a new challenge and I’m inviting you to join me. It’s HELL YES/HELL NOvember. We’ll continue stretching ourselves with outrageous acts, but we’re adding a twist. November is all about figuring out what you want, what you really really want (zigazig ha). For every decision you face this month, dig deep to ask yourself is this a HELL YES or a HELL NO? (Note: If your answer is HELL NO and this answer happens to come in response to something another human being has asked you, please be polite. You can say “HELL NO” in your head while saying “No thank you” aloud.)
The goal here is to clear your mind and your schedule of all those things that you’re tolerating, things you do because you feel like you’re supposed to, things that you’re just not that into. AND to commit to those things that really light your fire. By committing to things that light you up and freeing yourself from things that weigh you down, you may just find yourself in a very special place called “All In.” It’s a place where you are 100% present, 100% passionate and 100% committed.
What will happen if you go All In? I have no idea. This is your adventure. But I can promise you that, if you go All In and open yourself up to possibilities, you just might find your awesome.
