We’re thrilled to announce that the 5th Edition of the KIT for Kids Bike Day Event is rolling your way this June! Hosted by Hope Worldwide & Keep It Tight Cycling — in partnership with the Boston Police Department — the event returns Saturday, June 28th, 2025 at English High School in Jamaica Plain.
Five years strong, and this event keeps getting better. KIT for Kids isn’t just a bike day — it’s a movement built on the simple but powerful idea that every child deserves the freedom and joy of riding a bike. This year, we’re expanding even further:
- More Participants: Welcoming over 25 children ages 7-12.
- More Volunteers: We’re upping the ratio of volunteers to kids to 2:1…over 50 volunteers!
- More Activities: A full skills course, bike safety drills, “bike adventure” challenges, and face-painting
What to Expect
Each child will move through a series of interactive stations where they’ll:
-
Learn how to ride, balance, corner, and signal safely
-
Perform basic bike maintenance like inflating tires and checking brakes
-
Navigate fun ramps and obstacle courses
- Tasty snacks and a full lunch!
After mastering all activities, participants will earn their Bike Safety Certificate — proof that they’re ready to ride safely and confidently. And the best part? Every child will leave with a brand-new bike, helmet, and lock — free of charge. The smiles are real, the confidence is real, and the difference this makes in a child’s life is immeasurable.
Why We Ride
Many of the kids who attend KIT for Kids have never owned a bike, let alone had the chance to ride one. We’re not just teaching skills; we’re building confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of movement.
We Need You
Making dreams happen takes a village. We’re actively seeking donations to fund the purchase of bikes, helmets, and locks. No contribution is too small — every dollar pedals us closer to empowering a child. You can support this life-changing event by donating here.
